Kickoff Party: Youth Health & Wellness Club

All high school students in Warren County are invited to be a part of the Warren Coalition Youth Committee/Health & Wellness Club (the students will select a name during this meeting). This kick-off meeting will be held at the Santmyers Student Union and will include a free pizza dinner! PLEASE let us know you are coming (email celeste@warrencoalition.org or text 540-660-3367) so we can make sure we have enough food!

What will this club focus on?

Here are a few things the Club could be doing:

• Environmental scans (evaluating what drugs are in the gas stations our community)
• Sharing findings and/or advocating for policy with local and state officials
• Sticker shock (putting stickers on containers of alcohol in stores to warn people against sharing them with underage drinkers)
• Plan and promote events for middle school and high school students
• Plan and promote an “unplug challenge” for teens
• Social media campaigns
• Createvideos
• Learn about the negative impacts of various drugs and alcohol, and share those with others

These are potential ideas. We want this to be student-led, so exactly the direction the club takes will be up to the students who come!

We will be at WCHS and SHS during the lunch periods on various days the week of October 19th. Stop by and see us to learn more, and bring a few friends! We’ll be playing games and handing out a few prizes.

After the kick-off event, the regular meetings will be held on alternating Mondays at 6 pm. We will hand out a schedule at the kick-off.
