Warren Coalition Testimonial
Daniel Lenz, Director
Warren County Parks and Recreation Department
Over the past 16 years it has been an honor and privilege to volunteer for the Warren Coalition, serving the Warren County community. I became a member of the Warren Coalition in 2008, and since then I have volunteered, participated in and witnessed countless successful programs and activities, but most importantly, I have enjoyed the camaraderie of new friendships.
As a member, I was appointed/elected to chair the Youth Serving Agency for several years. I was also elected to the Executive Board for five years. I participated in numerous events over the past 16 years including:
- Annual Celebrate Kids Day Special Event
- Annual Red Ribbon Week – Flag Football SHS vs WCHS girls
- Midnight Volleyball at SMS and WCHHSC Gym
- Annual National Night Out event
- Last Dollar Student Scholarships Awards and selections
- Substance Abuse and other conferences
- Youth Serving Agency – Warren County Parks and Recreation Department
- Tulips One Voice Event
- Youth Have Talent (Selection Committee)
- Edward Jones 5K event
- Annual Wellness Festivals at WCHS
- Annual Festival of Leaves Events
The Parks and Recreation Department has participated in Project (WAHOO Working to Achieve Healthy Outcomes and Opportunities), a community partnership aimed at increasing area youths’ physical activity and assisting in maintaining good habits and weight through a variety of self-directed activities.
The Warren Coalition successfully partnered with the Parks and Recreation Department to obtain grant funding contributions for the following Warren County Park amenities:
- Basketball Court at Rockland Park
- Contributed to the Disc Golf Course at Rockland Park (18 baskets)
- 10-piece Exercise Equipment at Rockland Park
- Contributed to the Warren County Splash Pad at Seide Memorial Gardens Park
- Swing Set at Thompson’s Kiss and Ride Park
- Swing Set at the Skyline Soccerplex Park
- Volcano Climber Playground Equipment at the Skyline Soccerplex
- 4 portable Pickleball net systems for the new Pickleball Courts at Gertrude E. Miller Community Park
- Proposed 2024 – 2025 funding for 2 portable Pickleball net systems for the new Pickleball Courts at Gertrude E. Miller Community Park
I am in full support of the Warren Coalition’s Mission – To make Warren County a safe, healthy, and drug free community through many programs and in collaboration with 15+ member agencies.
